After being incorporated into the Library’s collections, documents that originated (in whole or in part) from SHS researchers’ personal libraries form ‘Researchers holdings’. They are therefore subject to special cataloguing so that a researcher’s entire fonds can easily be reconstituted. This reconstitution is an indication of titles that belonged to a researcher, but does not necessarily mean that the actual documents held by the Library were the researcher’s property.
The FMSH Library provides its readers with access to Pierre Bourdieu’s library at the Collège de France, Marc Augé’s library at EHESS, as well as Michel Wieviorka’s ‘State Terrorism and Violence’ fonds, and a portion of the private libraries of Raymond Aron and Fernand Braudel.
